Adventures in the North (Grant)

Welcome, dear readers, to Adventures In The North! Free time is something that everyone treasures, and that very few people can say they have enough of it. Whether you’re busy studying for school, participating in other activities, raising kids, trying to succeed in a competitive workplace, or something else, many of us simply don’t have the free time that we wish we had. This is one reason why campaign settings are so popular; they give us a framework to use, freeing up the time creating our own setting would consume so we can get our ideas to the table faster. But even with an excellent setting, such as The Ice Kingdoms, we can still run out of time to get ideas ready before we hit the table, and find ourselves on the spot when our games go quickly off the rails.

Adventures In The North aims to help with that. Each article in the series aims at providing players and game masters with inspiration to help enrich an evening’s session, whether providing you with that spark to get your own creative juices flowing, or by giving you material you can rip straight from the article and introduce to your table. Each article will begin with a brief bit of fiction narrated by Svofnir the Wanderer, which you can use as flavor text for rumors or in-character accounts. Then we dive into discussion of a topic, either an elaboration of a setting concept, game mechanics, or even an encounter to introduce into your own adventures or published adventures, such as Lair of the White Wyvern or Into the Mournwood.

None of the information presented in these articles is considered ‘canon’ to the Ice Kingdoms setting. If you see anything in these pages that doesn’t fit with your interpretation of the rest of the setting, feel free to change the details to better suit your vision. Adventures In The North is meant to enhance your games, not force them to conform to a particular vision of the game.
